There is no secret sauce.
There is no short cut.
To make money, you must do work. Perhaps not hard work. Or even a lot of it. But work that creates value for others. Whatever form that may take is entirely up to you.
But that’s not the point of this post, is it?
No, no, no. This post is about making enough money.
What then, is enough? Is your enough the same as mine? I’d be a fool if I thought so. So what makes me think I can tell you, dear educated, informed, worldly reader, anything about making enough money?
Recently, someone asked me what I do, and consequently, how much I make. This little incident took place in Singapore, the land of the superrich, and while said interrogator is not (I don’t think) superrich, accumulating wealth and riches is definitely on everyone’s minds.
In a flash of brilliance (these do not occur often, unfortunately), I replied:
I make enough to live the life I want, and that’s enough.
I realize I quoted myself, but heck, this is my blog, so geeeetouttaaaaheeeerreeeee if you don’t wanna see that.
I guess my point is… there will never be enough.
Enough money, enough time, enough anything. Humans are programmed to want, want, want. And while our insatiable desire has lead us to some incredible things, it has also lead us, unfortunately, down a terrible path of never-enough.
If you want to take that dream holiday, do it.
If you want to quit your job and start that business, do it.
If you want to take a year off to spend time with your children, do it.
There will never be enough, and if you keep waiting for there to be enough, that day will never come.
It is entirely up to you to decide (at some point before it is too late) that whatever you have is enough, and just get up and do whatever the hell you want.
So. Moral of the story – to make enough money, you must first decide how much is enough.
And once you decide how much is enough, and get to that point, just get up off your scaredy-cat ass and go do that thing you’ve been wanting and waiting to do for-ever.
There isn’t ever going to be a better time.
